Evan Marie Lowder, Ph.D.
Dr. Lowder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from North Carolina State University and completed her postdoctoral training in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI. Her work focuses on evaluating the use of interventions, supervision strategies, and tools to facilitate individuals’ release from detention and connection to services and supports in the community. Dr. Lowder has received funding from federal (National Institute of Justice), state (Indiana Office of Court Services; Indiana Division of Mental Health), and local (Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office) agencies to advance her research agenda. Her research has been published in outlets such as Justice Quarterly, the Journal of Criminal Justice, Law and Human Behavior, Criminal Justice and Behavior, and the American Journal of Public Health. Her work has been recognized by the American Public Health Association and the American Psychology-Law Society. She was the 2019 recipient of the Christopher Webster Early Career Award from the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services.
